Sylvan provides an extensive collection of cultivated mushroom species in their laboratories in the U.S. (Kittanning) and France (Langeasis) available to their customers. In addition to our commercial strains, this collection includes many wild strains that have been collected and maintained for decades, unique to Sylvan.

More than 600 strains of over 50 species currently reside in the collection, many obtained by tissue culture and/or spore collection from mushrooms throughout the world including Europe, Asia and various parts of the Americas.

This unique strain collection allows the company to explore a novel germplasm depository, representing a valuable source of genetic diversity critical to our breeding programs. This collection of strains benefits grower’s market development prospects and security for crop longevity.
